The Red Hook Film Festival is a joint effort, managed without a staff or most of the benefits of larger festivals for the simple purpose of just showing films to the community as a shared communal experience.  We screen films which might otherwise passed us by and, like a profound story told around a campfire, the experience becomes more meaningful when shared together.

The festival is fostered, sponsored, encouraged, and enjoyed by the full community because that is what life here in our village is all about.

The first festival was started by Robert George of the Robert George Design Group and and a few friends but the most important event in the evolution of the Red Hook Film Festival was the number of local community members who stepped forward to say 'What can I do to help?'
